The 60mm fan silently pumps air in and over the freezer module, actively circulating that cold air through-out the fridge helping keep EVERYTHING cold, even your beverages in the door. The fan draws barely anything at just over 1w (or 0.1a) which is nothing compared to how much power you'll save with your fridge no longer cycling as often.
